When styling mom jeans I’m often asked ‘what shoes go best with mom jeans’? The right shoe pairing can make or break an outfit, or in this case the silhouette created by mom jeans.
Mom jeans go best with heeled shoes, such as tall sleek ankle boots, that elongate the legs and flatter the cut of the jean. Mom jeans are very versatile and also pair well with a range of other styles of shoes.
Here is a quick guide to pairing shoes with mom jeans, including pictures so you can get a good idea of how the outfits will look.
1. Sleek heeled black ankle boots
You can’t go wrong with pairing mom jeans and heeled ankle boots. This classic combo is chic, yet casual and will really dress up your mom jeans for an easy day time look.
Pair black heeled ankle boots with mom jeans and simple black accessories, such as a chunky belt.
In the above image, I paired my blue mom jeans with a jumper, leather jacket and heeled booties for a cute weekend outfit. On the right I paired a baggier fit of mom jeans with my black ankle boots, to show how well this shoe pairs with differently styled cuts of mom jeans.
2. Casual white sneakers
For a relaxed casual outfit pair your mom jeans with simple white sneakers and a white tee. This outfit is another classic mom jeans combination, and is universally flattering.
It’s super easy to put together and looks great every time. Finish with dainty gold jewellery for a feminine twist.
White sneakers also pair really well with black or even coloured mom jeans – they are so versatile!
3. Converse high tops
Add a fun twist to your mom jeans with Converse high tops. This cool style of shoe is great for three reasons:
- They’re timeless
- They come in a huge range of colours and patterns
- They are super comfy!
Converse high tops look especially cool when paired with a baggier fit of mom jeans, as pictured above. I styled my baggy balloon-legged mom jeans with bright yellow Converse high tops, a graphic tee and a cropped pastel cardigan for a super on-trend silhouette.
Why not give high tops with mom jeans a go, for an effortlessly stylish streetwear look.

4. Colourful court heels
Dress up distressed mom jeans with a pair of brightly coloured court heels for a vibrant pop of style. Adding colourful shoes to an outfit instantly gives it an exciting lift.
Distressed mom jeans with cuffed hems create a fun juxtaposition to sleek court heels, for a funky pairing perfect for an evening out. Match with a form-fitting bodysuit and simple silver jewellery for a sexy finish.
5. Dr Martens/chunky boots
Both mom jeans and Dr Martens are universally loved fashion staple pieces, that when paired together are a match made in heaven.
Add instant edgy style to your mom jeans by pairing them with a pair of Dr Martens or similarly styled chunky boots. This style of shoe looks great with all styles of mom jeans; black, blue, indigo wash, patched, painted, embroidered and even colourful.
Roll up the hems of your mom jeans and wear with a funky pair of socks (as pictured above) for a cute pop of detail.
6. Pink Converse
Pink Converse are a cute addition to any shoe closet and they look adorable when paired with mom jeans.
Add a pop of pink to your outfits with these comfy classics.
In the above image I paired pink Converse with two types of mom jeans; balloon-legged and pink denim. Finished your outfits with eccentric printed accessories, such as a leopard printed pouch bag or vibrant yellow lightening bolt socks, as pictured above, for a trendy style.
7. Metallic heeled boots
Metallic heeled boots are a great way to dress up your day time mom jeans looks, as they add a pop of flashy detail to any outfit.
A funky heel on an otherwise simple boot is an effortless way to add style to your looks, without having to put in any effort at all. Pair this type of heeled boots with mom jeans for a super cute day time look, perfect for a lunch out. Go for for a chunkier heel if you are going to be on your feet for comfort.
In the above image I paired my blue wash mom jeans with gold metallic heeled boots. I matched a gold chained black bag to the boots and paired the jeans with a sheer floral wrap top for a feminine finish. This outfit was so simple to throw on but it looks really put-together. The flattering cut of the mom jeans is accentuated by the heeled boots, giving me the illusion of having longer legs.
